"to improve the quality of life of the rural residents in its area by the reasonable and responsible protection and development of the natural and human resources of north Alabama"

• History:

The Alabama Mountains, Rivers and Valleys Resource Conservation and Development Council, Inc. is a 501 (c) (3) Non-Profit operating in eight north Alabama counties since 1973. We have been recognized locally and nationally for delivering innovative solutions to environmental and community needs. Recently we were selected as the Nation’s Most Outstanding RC&D Council and was formally recognized in Washington D.C on March 1, 2010. Our Board’s Management and Vision has resulted in the successful completion of grants from federal, state, foundation and private funders. Examples of these successes include:
oNatural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) , Conservation Innovations Grant: Alabama’s first rainwater collection demonstration on a poultry farm to capture water for drinking water and cool cell operation to reduce the damage to area streams from rapid storm water runoff and to reduce costs for farmers.
