A New Leaf is a 501 (c) 3 health and human services organization committed to delivering quality behavioral health and emergency shelter services to individuals and families in need. Guided by its steadfast mission of Helping Families..Changing Lives, A New Leaf annually impacts approximately 20,000 men, women and children throughout the Greater Phoenix Metropolitan area.
Originally founded in 1971 as PREHAB of Arizona, A New Leaf has continued to serve its community by successfully advocating, teaching and assisting those less fortunate in overcoming their difficult challenges to live healthier, safer lives. From its humble beginnings as a small treatment provider for youth in Mesa, A New Leaf today remains one of the largest nonprofit organizations in Phoenix’s East Valley. Through a series of successful mergers/acquisitions, A New Leaf has increased its capacity to serve others while simultaneously preserving valuable community resources from closing their doors. This includes: the La Mesita Family Homeless Shelter, Helaman Residential program, the East Valley Men’s Center, Faith House Domestic Violence Shelter, West Valley Social Services, MentorE, MesaCAN and the EMPOWER program, a transitional shelter for youth aging out of foster care.
With over 20+ programs throughout Maricopa County, A New Leaf is able to offer an array of support services that assist disadvantaged populations in improving their quality of life through long term self-sufficiency. These services include: outpatient counseling, after school programming, emergency/transitional shelter, court advocacy, residential treatment, delinquency prevention, detention alternative services, therapeutic foster care, licensed childcare, and community action program services. By offering these services to traditionally underserved and/or at-risk populations, A New Leaf seeks to improve the physical, social and emotional well-being of these groups and in turn, improve the overall quality of life for their communities.
