• Mission:

The Environment California Research & Policy Center, a 501(c)(3) organization, is dedicated to protecting California's air, water, and open spaces and providing the people of California with a voice in local, state, and national debates about environmental issues. We investigate problems, craft solutions, educate the public and decision-makers, and offer citizens meaningful opportunities for civic participation in order to improve the quality of our states environment and our quality of life.

• History:

In 2003, Environment California Research & Policy Center became the new home of California Public Interest Research Group (CALPIRG) Education Fund's environmental work, focusing exclusively on protecting California's air, water and open spaces.

Drawing on more than 30 years of experience, our professional staff combines independent research, practical ideas and effective educational campaigns to overcome the opposition of special interests and win real results for California's environment.

Environment California Research & Policy Center has seven staff in California. In addition, we work with our national federation, Environment America to fight for clean air, clean water, and open space; and with the Fund for Public Interest Research to coordinate the citizen outreach efforts. Environment California Research and Policy Center has been a leader on key environmental issues in California, including promoting clean and affordable energy solutions and protecting our beautiful places and our ocean.
