  • Mission:
  • The mission of ABWE is to share the story of hope, build communities of faith, and serve the world with love.

  • Overview:
  • ABWE is an unaffiliated, independent missions agency and is the common name collectively used for a group of non-profit corporations organized for religious and charitable purposes. We operate numerous ministries of compassion such as hospitals, schools, orphanages, and ministries to homeless refugees, street children, and youth. ABWE has administrative offices in both the USA and Canada, and we partner with like-minded organizations around the world.

  • History:
  • ABWE was founded in Watch Hill, Rhode Island in 1927 by Dr. Raphael Thomas, a graduate of Harvard Medical College. He committed his life to treating medical conditions and to teaching the Bible. The organization was born as a mission to send out the founder and those who followed him to treat medical conditions and teach the Bible in the Philippines. Through the years, ABWE has grown to over 900 career missionaries serving in more than 75 nations around the world. This large missionary family is supported by a network of approximately 4,200 partner organizations throughout the United States and Canada. Our International Administration and Training Center is located near Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.
