A.H.E.A.D. is a multi-service, non-profit organization with a mission to educate, strengthen and empower under-served communities by promoting health education, social awareness and community development. We cultivate leadership and foster learning through dynamic outreach programs, peer-to-peer training, workshops and health education seminars. With compassion and sensitivity, A.H.E.A.D. enriches, enlightens and embraces all people regardless of age, race, creed, or socioeconomic status by addressing issues that impact our global community.
Established in March 2003 by Or’Telin Zahairagunn, this non-profit organization began in response to declining social and health conditions, and its continuous cycle in underserved communities across America. A.H.E.A.D. evolved as an extension of an organization Mr. Zahairagunn started on a college campus in 1992 called “Men of Culture.” The organization teaches young people of varying backgrounds to learn, understand and respect one another’s cultural differences. His grassroots efforts have since grown to include over 20 chapters of Men of Culture on college and university campuses throughout the United States and abroad.
A.H.E.A.D. is about young people in the community helping the community. Our fundamental purpose is in our name. We are social Advocates serving through Education, Awareness and outreach and Developing both people and communities. Those helped and impacted by A.H.E.A.D. are encouraged to think ahead, embracing their life and their abilities with no limits, no boundaries and no excuses. Through self-empowerment combined with the support and instruction of parents, mentors and community leaders, we provide today’s youth, our future leaders, with progressive life skills that extend far beyond standard lessons taught in the classroom.
