  • History:
  • We have been at work with young children and families in Tacoma since the organization was known as Associated Charities, founded in 1895. Tacoma Learning Center (TLC), founded as an agency in 1981, became a program of Child & Family Guidance Center in 2005, providing comprehensive early learning and cooperative preschool to children, ages birth to 3, with developmental and learning delays. The merger between CFGC and the TLC paved the way for an organization-wide team that is well equipped to work strengthening the whole family in the whole of Pierce County. Key elements of this partnership include early childhood education and therapy services, parent education, marriage and family counseling, and providing access to any resources needed for families in diverse situations to experience success raising healthy children prepared for life-long learning.
