General

  • Mission:
  • Peter & Paul Community Services, an ecumenical agency, provides housing and supportive services to those who are homeless, especially those who experience mental illness or live with HIV.

  • History:
  • Initially organized as a grassroots agency, Peter & Paul Community Services (PPCS) began in 1981 as a response to the crisis of homelessness in St. Louis. Today, Peter & Paul Community Services serves many different needs of homeless individuals from the greater metropolitan area serving over 3000 unduplicated clients each year through our six programs:
Positive Directions Program: Provides both supportive services and housing for 20 homeless men and women who are living with HIV/AIDS, have issues of substance abuse and/or are living with mental illness.
Labre Center: A residential care facility for 15 men who are homeless and mentally ill.
Emergency Shelter: Serves up to 60 men nightly, providing basic needs of shelter, food, showers, laundry, lockers and staff support.
Transitional Housing Program: Provides transitional housing and assists up to 15 homeless men annually in establishing a regular income and savings plan, with the goal of moving into independent living.
Meals Program: Provides an evening meal 19 days each month to as many as 230 persons who are homeless or living below poverty.
Breakfast Club: Providing a simple breakfast each weekday to over 200 men, women and children who are homeless. Plans for expanding our programs include the creation of a safe haven that will immediately end chronic homelessness for 25 people and serve an additional 250 chronically homeless people annually.
