TERI (Training, Education & Research Institute), located in Oceanside, California has been a lifeline for individuals with autism and other developmental and learning disabilities since 1980. While many seek a cure, TERI has created an environment where individuals with autism and other disabilities thrive, surrounded by expert care providers dedicated to improving the quality of their over-all life experiences. Serving over 600 children, youth, adults and their families through educational, vocational, life planning and residential services, TERI is providing care today and working on securing the future for every one of our clients.
TERI was founded 28 years ago with a grant to open four residential homes and a small day program. Today with over 300 employees, an annual operating budget of $14.5 million, and assets at nearly $8 million, TERI is San Diego County’s most comprehensive service provider for individuals with autism and other developmental & learning disabilities, and their families.
TERI exists to ensure that every individual with developmental and learning disabilities is able to lead a valued, meaningful and fulfilling life of uncompromised quality in their community. TERI offers a continuum of services designed to meet emerging client needs across the lifespan. TERI operates two nonpublic schools: The Learning Academy serving 72 individuals with moderate to profound autism spectrum disorder (ASD), and concomitant behavioral challenges, and The Country School, with 32 students diagnosed with mild to moderate ASD, primarily Asperger’s syndrome. Adult services include 10 owned and operated 6-bed group homes (60 individuals), Choices for Adult Learning (12 individuals), and the Center for the Arts & Adult Education (164 adults). Additional services include Family Support (Respite) Services (over 300 individuals), and Camps, Saturday Program, Vocational Agricultural, Therapeutic Equestrian, Fitness & Recreation programs, Life Quality Planning, Consultation, and Transportation. TERI serves individuals from all over San Diego County, and a few individuals from Orange and Riverside Counties at our North San Diego County facilities.
