The mission of the Married Ladies Social, Art & Charity Club of America, Inc. is to advance the social, intellectual and artistic level of the community it serves, to provide benevolent services to the elderly and the needy, to provide scholarships to deserving young people to aid in their educational pursuits, and to preserve the home of the club as a museum in order to make available to the public documented evidence of the contributions that women, particularly African America, women, have made to the history of Houston, Texas.
- History:
In 1902 there was a growing concern about the well-being of the youth, elderly and families of the surrounding communities. Twelve ladies made the choice to create an organization to assess and address the problems and available opportunities in our communities. These women created the Married Ladies Social, Art & Charity Club of America, Inc. - a non-profit charitable organization with the purpose of meeting the needs of families in our communities.
