General

  • Mission:
  • The mission of the Colorado Environmental Film Festival is a celebration of the power of film to inspire, educate, and motivate audiences. The CEFF will present thought--provoking films and dialogue that raise awareness of a wide variety of interconnected ecological, social, and economic themes. The CEFF hopes to provide its audiences with an experience that goes beyond passive film viewing: the CEFF aims to inspire our audiences into awareness and action.

  • History:
  • Americans are increasingly confronted with complex environmental issues and often lack information in order to address the issues or in some cases are completely unaware of ecological problems. After attending environmental film festivals around the country, the founders saw the opportunity and need to address these issues in Colorado through films, and were inspired to start the Colorado Environmental Film Festival (CEFF).

In 2006, the Colorado Environmental Film Festival sought to increase environmental literacy, awareness, and action through a three-day film event that incorporated environmental media, awareness-raising lectures and discussion, environmental workshops, a children's environmental program, and more. Since then, the festival has increased from 50 participants to over 1800 participants. The issues remain the same, the opportunities are great, and the need continues to rise.
