  • Mission:
  • The mission of the Central Valley Children’s Partnership is to provide children and youth in the Central Valley with exceptional opportunities to grow and develop during their time out of school, including preschool, before and after school and summer.

  • History:
  • Founded in 2005, the foundation supports high quality afterschool programs through training, fundraising and public policy initiatives, benefiting nearly 40,000 children and youth in the region. The Central Valley Afterschool Foundation serves the counties of Fresno, Kings, Madera, Mariposa, Merced and Tulare. It is governed by a board of directors that includes leaders in the areas of children, youth and families from throughout the region.

The Central Valley Children’s Partnership is an innovative intermediary organization focused on improving the lives of children and youth in the Central Valley. Specifically, the Partnership focuses on the time children are not in school to facilitate and improve opportunities for learning and growing. This includes all the time a child is out of school, including but not limited to: 1) Preschool; 2) Afterschool; 3) Summer; 4) Weekends and evenings.
Specifically the role of the Central Valley Children’s Partnership is to:
    • Provide training and support to agencies implementing direct services to children and youth.
    • Implement public-private partnerships to advance the well-being of children and youth.
    • Build public awareness of the importance of out of school time learning for children and youth.
    • Identify and secure private and public resources.
    • Promote the voice of the Central Valley’s children and smart public policy options locally, statewide and nationally.

    Core Operating Values
Children First – We believe that the needs of children and youth should always come before the desires of adults and institutions.

Focus on the Whole Child – We believe that the future of our children and youth is dependent upon opportunities that engage their minds, bodies and spirits. We promote developmentally appropriate systems and services that emphasize well-rounded experiences.

Responsiveness and Excellence – We pride ourselves in our ability to meet needs in a timely fashion with high quality service.

Innovation – The Central Valley Children’s Partnership is committed to continually advancing the field of youth services by constantly improving models and creating new strategies.

Accountability – We believe in the value of accountability systems. We tie our activities to goals and our goals to results.

Partnerships – Strategic partnerships are at the root of all of the Central Valley Children’s Partnership. Coming alongside public partners to supplement their work by taking on tasks that they cannot perform because of capacity or other restrictions yields more benefits than one organization working alone. Moreover, partnering with small service-based non-profits to provide administrative, fund development, and other strategic support provides more children with opportunities.
