  • Mission:
  • The mission of the Chesapeake Regional Health Foundation is to provide financial funding to support the programs, services and equipment needs to ensure quality health care is provided to the patients at Chesapeake Regional Medical Center.

  • History:
  • Founded as Chesapeake General Hospital Healthcare Foundation and doing business as Chesapeake Regional Health Foundation, the foundation is the fundraising arm of Chesapeake Regional Medical Center (CRMC) and supports the organization’s programs, services and equipment needs. Beginning with Chesapeake General Hospital’s opening in January 1976, our medical center has grown to provide high-quality, compassionate healthcare services to residents of southeastern Virginia and northeastern North Carolina. Chesapeake Regional Medical Center’s mission is to improve the quality of life in our community.

CRMC is anchored by Chesapeake General Hospital, a 310-bed community hospital. It has the busiest emergency department in Hampton Roads, treating more than 65,000 patients each year. Chesapeake Regional has the only accredited Chest Pain Center in the region and one of only four in Virginia. The Bariatric Surgery Program at CRMC has been accredited as a Center of Excellence by the American College of Surgeons. Chesapeake Regional is certified as a Primary Stroke Center by The Joint Commission.

The Breast Center at Chesapeake Regional Medical Center opened in October 2008. It is nationally recognized by the American College of Radiology as a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence whose mission is to provide comprehensive education, support and guidance to patients with positive findings on mammography. The center features the latest technology and treatment options, seamless case management and some of the region’s most experienced physicians, surgeons, radiologists, oncologists and therapists. Coastal Surgical Specialists of Virginia Beach has partnered with the Breast Center to provide breast surgery services to Chesapeake Regional patients. The physicians are certified by the American Board of Surgery and specialize in breast surgery services.
