  • FIDEC works with community-based organizations in supporting their initiatives toward community organizing and empowerment, capacity building and consciousness raising, participatory research, environmental conservation, and policy advocacy.

    FIDEC also links with local and international organizations in advocating for pro-poor, patriotic and sustainable programs and policies, as well as engaging in networking, knowledge sharing and solidarity activities on common social, political and economic concerns.

  • Central Visayas Fisherfolk Development Center (FIDEC) is a non-government organization based in Cebu City, Central Philippines founded through the initiatives of fisherfolk and church-based organizations to improve the quality of life of marginal fisherfolk communities in the Central Visayas region

    FIDEC was established in 1985 as the Fishermen’s Development Center and was later changed in 1995 to Central Visayas Fisherfolk Development Center. The organization was primarily created to support and empower the fisherfolk communities in answering to local, national and global issues and concerns affecting the communities.

    Over the years, FIDEC, Inc. has been able to implement projects and initiatives with innovative and sustainable approaches. The organization has collaborated with different government and other non-goverment organizations in guiding fisherfolk organizations in advancing their capacities in community development, promotion of fisherfolk needs and aspirations, protection and conservation of the environment, and advocating for good governance.
