  • Mission:
  • It was started with a vision of ensuring that Rural and urban under privileged and marginalized persons live free from poverty, ignorance, diseases and sustainable life.
    The BIRUDO’s mission is to impart knowledge in women, men, children for a reduction of ignorance, poverty, diseases and strengthen and even empower those (marginalized community) towards sustainable development to improved livelihood.
    The mission shall be achieved through Community mobilization and organization, awareness raising, Education, resource mobilization, advocacy and lobbying, trainings and research, net working and information sharing.

  • History:
  • Buliisa initiative for rural development organization (BIRUDO) which was started in October 2006 and registered in 2007 as a community based organization (CBO) with Buliisa local government with registration No. CD/058/010 and it also registered with USA- government with US D-U-N-S request-tracking Number: 850456370 by US fish and wildlife service department of Wildlife without Border Africa under BEAN project in 2008. It is located in Uganda, Buliisa district, with it headquarter in Buliisa town council. Its office is located on paraa road opposite Tullow offices.
    1. BIRUDO is currently implementing a project called BULIISA OIL ADVOCACY PROJECT. This project is aimed at strengthening the advocacy skills of Buliisa communities in oil and gas issues with the specific objectives to train the communities in promoting accountability, transparency and good governance of oil revenue at local levels. The project is currently funded by Revenue Watch Institute (RWI).
    2. BIRUDO was engaged in farmer group’s institution development of the farmer groups in Buliisa District. This was funded under Buliisa District National Agricultural Advisory Services (NAADS) both in Buliisa and Biiso sub-counties from 2007 to 2008.
