General

  • Mission:
  • Banner Health Foundation fosters a spirit of giving by making healthcare solutions a reality for our community. Contributions made to the Foundation are invested locally in Banner Health’s not-for-profit facilities and programs to advance health and wellness. Caring for the future of Arizona since 1978, Banner Health Foundation is supported by the generosity of individual donors, the public and private sectors, and thousands of active volunteers. Based in Phoenix, Arizona, Banner Health is one of the largest not-for-profit health care systems in the country. At Banner Health our mission is that we exist to make a difference in people's lives through excellent patient care.

  • History:
  • Banner Health is the leading nonprofit provider of health care in Arizona and in many communities in the western region of the United States. Banner operates 23 hospitals and health care facilities in seven states and employs more than 35,000 people. In Phoenix, Banner operates ten acute care medical centers that provide a comprehensive range of services. Nationally recognized programs include cardiology and cardiac care, high-risk obstetrics, Alzheimer's research and treatment, organ and bone marrow transplants, emergency and trauma, imaging, home care and hospice, and patient safety. Banner is also a national leader in innovations to make patient care safer and more efficient, including the use of electronic medical records, simulation training and education, robotic surgery and electronic monitoring of patients. Banner was recognized by Thomson Reuters in 2010 as one of the country’s top 10 health systems based on clinical performance.
Banner is deeply committed to its nonprofit mission of making a difference in people's lives through excellent patient care. As a nonprofit organization, Banner exists to support its charitable mission of providing healthcare services to the communities we serve, rather than generate profits. Since its inception, Banner has worked to ensure that our community has access to high quality health care, regardless of a patient's background or financial standing. In 2009, Banner provided $80 million in charity care. Annually, Banner treats 800,000 patients, delivers 34,000 babies and serves 42% of all inpatients in Maricopa County, the nation's fourth largest county.
Banner Health Foundation secures and stewards charitable contributions to advance the mission of Banner Health. Contributions are invested in Banner’s facilities and programs that advance health and wellness. As our population expands and the demand for available health care resources grows, contributions that support advancements in care and community programs become increasingly important.
