  • Mission:
  • The APJCC is dedicated to the enhancement of Jewish life by providing for the social, cultural, educational and recreational needs and to serve as the common meeting place for the entire Jewish community as well as to extend these services and be a resource to the general community of Silicon Valley.

  • History:
  • In 1968 the Jewish Activities Committee of the Jewish Federation formed on Emory Street in San Jose. The committee founded a Jewish day camp, Camp Shalom, in 1969. The Jewish Community Center was officially established in 1973 and renamed the Addison-Penzak Jewish Community Center of Greater San Jose in 1985. Over the next ten years the organization incorporated the APJCC Preschool, Silicon Valley Jewish Film Festival and the South Bay Institute into its center programming. The Silicon Valley Jewish Film Festival spun off as a separate organization in 2009. In 1985 the JCC moved to the old Berry School site on Oka Road in Los Gatos. In 2004 the old building was torn down and the current facility opened in September 2005 as the Gloria & Ken Levy Family Campus. The current facility includes a state-of-the art fitness center, swimming pools and tennis courts, event auditorium, Art Gallery Hall, full gymnasium, and classrooms on 9 acres.
