  • Mission:
  • The mission of the Business Education Partnership Foundation is to foster interest in and to promote and to support programs in the public schools of the City of Murfreesboro and Rutherford County that will prepare students for the business world.

  • Overview:
  • The purpose of the BEP is to provide business leadership and knowledge that aids in the creation of educational experiences for students and teachers to help develop a better prepared future workforce. Our goal is to successfully operate and conduct educational programs bringing together business and education for their mutual benefit. We have been able to strive toward our goal by maintining a vision of becoming an integral part of the Rutherford County and Murfreesboro City education systems in youth career and teacher professional development. The BEP is currently one of only two non-profits which are writtien into both city and county 5-year education plans. This organization also provids the only career development training for school guidance counselors in the county. And we provide training in curriculum/real world integration in math and science which has proven to increase student test scores and their ability to recall and apply what they have learned. We have aided in the development of several CTE programs in the Rutherford County school system. Our website is used by teachers all over the United States as a one-stop shop for links to lesson plans from businesses and organizations which bring curriculum into the real world.

We are listed on Giving Matters.Com through the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee.

  • History:
  • The Business Education Partnership Foundation of Rutherford County, Inc (BEP) began as an education committee of the Rutherford County Chamber of Commerce. From the beginning Nissan North America, State Farm, Middle Tennessee State University and the Jennings and Rebecca Jones Foundation have been an integral part of the foundation. The organization was formalized as a non-profit 501 (c) 3 in December 1988 and it gained final approval in June of 1989. The first two programs included an EXCEL card given for good grades and mini-grants. While the EXCEL program has been taken over by each individual school, BEP/Nissan Teacher Mini-Grants still give up to $500 for teachers to create hands-on activities integrating classroom curriculum with the real world. The program just celebrated its 21st birthday. Other programs include Bc^3 Academy for Math/Science Study Enhancement, Professor Buzzo Discovery Academy, Counselor Leadership Institute, Express Yourself Arts Conference, State Farm Summer Business Camp and Youth Leadership Rutherford. We work with the school system to bring top executives into Virtual Enterprise classrooms through our Executives in Residence program. We touch over 1,000 lives directly and more than 30,000 indirectly every year.
