  • Mission:
  • Mission Statement:
Bound Together's Mission is to nurture self worth and academic growth for Pontiac elementary school students performing below grade level.

  • Overview:
  • Bound Together (a tutoring and meal program) takes place during the school year for the at risk children of the neighborhood surround All Saints Episcopal Church in Pontiac, MI. Through years of dedication and service to the community, we have developed a program to make the space around us a safe and inviting place.
It is the continuation of reading, writing and math with fun and enrichment in a safe environment for children of working poor that provide a comfort zone for them. Food plays a significant role in offering services. Combining this with enrichment opportunities gives children a chance to dream of other “stuff”.

  • History:
  • In 1994, Bound Together was founded by members of Pontiac’s All Saints' Episcopal Church and several retired Pontiac teachers as a small, after school tutoring program. In 1995, the program added a Kids’ Café dinner through the efforts of our (now retired) Deacon and All Saints’ volunteers. Kids Cafe is now supported by members of St. Philip’s Episcopal Church of Rochester, Michigan.
In 1999, Bound Together became a non-profit tax-exempt corporation and reached out to include others from the community as board members and as tutors. Our primary mission is to provide no cost, individualized reading, writing and mathematics tutoring and healthy dinners three days per week to Pontiac elementary school students. Throughout the school year, Bound Together also hosts holiday parties, summer programs, and field trips. Funding is raised through private donations, local churches, grants from charitable foundations, and other partners in ministry.
Tutoring is available to children in grades 1-7 who are students in the Pontiac school district and are in need of remedial work in reading or mathematics. Testing is administered prior to admission in order to determine the level of remediation required.
