  • Mission:
  • Abilities Network's mission is to challenge the community to acknowledge the value and equality of people of all abilities.

  • Overview:
  • Overview: Abilities Network is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that assists individuals with achieving their personal goals and reaching their maximum potential. Services are customized to offer choices to individuals and families. The children, adults, families and seniors we serve are affected by a variety of at-risk factors including a diagnosed disability; lack of environmental supports; low-socioeconomic levels; and limited knowledge about resources and/or the capacity to access them. Abilities Network is certified by the Maryland Association of Nonprofits and has been recognized by the Baltimore Magazine as one of the top 25 places to work in Maryland.

  • History:
  • The Epilepsy Association of Maryland was incorporated to support individuals with epilepsy. As time progressed, the organization began providing services to individuals with varying types of disabilities. To reflect a broader targeted population, Abilities Network was incorporated in 2000, and has grown from the volunteer-driven facilitation of support groups and public/professional education to our current extensive and varied organization. Abilities Network currently employs staff in eight locations statewide and operates six key program initiatives:

    1. Community & Employment Partners offers comprehensive services to adults with disabilities to support them with living and working in their communities of choice.

    2. Project ACT (All Children Together) supports inclusive child care for children with disabilities and collaborates with families and educational professionals.

    3. Healthy Families Baltimore County helps parents gain nurturing skills and child development knowledge needed to give their babies a healthy, enriched life.

    4. Senior Services New to [Abilities Network] provides personalized relocation services and hosts the Senior Speaker Series.

    5. Autism Services (MSDE approved) works in collaboration with families and is designed for children with autism.

    6. Epilepsy Services provides educational/referral information, advocacy, and support to people with epilepsy, community members, local schools and law enforcement personnel.
