  • Mission:
  • The mission of Child Advocates - Denver CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) is to advocate for the best interests of abused and neglected children in Denver Juvenile Court through the services of specially selected and trained community volunteers from diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds.

  • Overview:
  • Child Advocates, stands with children who are victims of abuse and neglect. Our volunteers go through an extensive screening process and then complete almost 40 hours of classroom training, reading assignments and court observation. Our volunteers are appointed by judges in Denver Juvenile Court to advocate for the best interess of children to ensure that they do not get lost in the overburdened child welfare system. The goal is to help children achieve permanency as soon as possible or transition to adulthood successfully.

  • History:
  • In 1994, with a start-up grant from the National CASA Association, the Child Advocates program was established under the umbrella of another non-profit organization and by March 1995 was incorporated as a separate legal entity. Child Advocates was formed to recruit, train and supervise volunteers who would be "the voice of the child" in court proceedings and the child welfare system. To date we have advocated for over 3,100 abused and neglected children and youth in the City of Denver.
