  • Mission:
  • To inspire and enable all youth, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as positive, caring and productive citizens.

  • Overview:
  • The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Greater Chippewa Valley provides positive and productive programming for over 2,500 youth ages 8-18 annually. Youth participate in after school and full day summer programming in five core areas of focus: Character & Leadership, Health & Life Skills, The Arts, Sports, Recreation & Fitness and Education & Career Development. The Club is open during the school year from 3pm – 8pm and during the summer from 7:30am – 6pm. The Club is also open when school is closed giving youth the opportunity to be in a safe, productive place instead of at an unsupervised location. Additionally, the Club provides daily snack and dinner during the school year along with breakfast, lunch and snack during the summer months and on school breaks. Members are able to participate in all of the programs, meals and special events for an annual membership fee of only $10 per person or $20 per family. The average cost to the Boys & Girls Club to provide quality programming, meals and transportation over $600 per member each year.

  • History:
  • The Boys & Girls Club of the Greater Chippewa Valley was started in 2001 in Eau Claire, WI by a group of concerned individuals who felt the Chippewa Valley had a need for a safe place that young boys and girls could go after school and during school breaks to receive positive reinforcement in an open, accepting environment. A steering committee was established and the Boys & Girls Club was opened in June 2004.

By 2011, the Boys & Girls Club had over 700 youth members and had become an established organization in the community, and was named the Boys & Girls Club of the Greater Chippewa Valley - Mary Markquart Center. In 2012, the Club acquired the Boys & Girls Club in Jackson County. Last December, the organization opened a third site to serve the youth in Chippewa Falls, WI. Next fall, a fourth site is scheduled to open under the Greater Chippewa Valley umbrella.

Today, the Mary Markquart Center has nearly 900 youth members, and is serving an average of nearly 100 youth each day. Over 58% of Boys & Girls Club families make less than $26,000 each year, with 14% of families making less than $14,000 each year. Although the Boys & Girls Club is open to all area youth, the services are made affordable to serve those who need us most.
