  • Catholic Charities of West Tennessee: Following the teachings of Jesus Christ, we provide help to those facing chronic poverty and bring hope though intervention, counseling and case management. We serve people regardless of religious beliefs, socio-economic status or ethnic background.

  • Overview:
  • For over 40 years, Catholic Charities of West Tennessee (CCWTN) has provided services to those most desperate in our community, mostly notably through our Homeless Shelters', Immigration Services, Counseling and Emergency Services programs. Catholic Charities of West Tennessee serves our community's most vulnerable regardless of religious beliefs, social or economic status, ethnic background or personal misfortune. Catholic Charities is not just for the Catholic Community, it is hope and service from the Catholic Community.

    Food Pantry: There were over 3,489 households that used our Food Pantry in 2012-2013 Fiscal year. This represents approximately 7,002 individuals. The majority of our clients are between the ages of 18-59 years of age. A new mobile food pantry program was launched in June 2012 and now makes monthly visits to 5 locations in the Memphis and Jackson, TN areas with a specific emphasis on the Hispanic community. In 2012-2013 it helped over 2,636 clients with perishable and non-perishable food. Other items were also delivered like household goods when available.

    Immigration Services - During 2012-2013 CCWTN expanded our efforts to assist immigrants through the naturalization and citizenship process to help them achieve self-sufficiency and US Citizenship. Over 357 immigrants we helped by CCWTN in the process of becoming a legal US citizen.

    Genesis House - serves individuals who are homeless due to co-occurring disorders including chronic mental illness. CCWTN/Genesis House has partnered with the Veterans Administration to assist Homeless Veterans awaiting assignment to permanent housing. Genesis House assisted 23 veteran clients in 2012-2013.

    St. Sebastian Veteran Services - Program to help homeless/or on the verge of homelessness veterans and their families with counseling, case management, and employment services.

  • Catholic Charities of West Tennessee (CCWTN) has been serving the people of Memphis and the Mid-South for over 40 years and has long provided services to those most desperate in our community. Incorporated in September of 1971, our mission is to follow the teachings of Jesus Christ by providing help to those facing chronic poverty and bringing hope through intervention, counseling and case management. The mission also guides the organization to the ministries of the needy, mostly notably through our Homeless and Immigration programs. Together with our food and clothing pantries, these services help many to help themselves.
