  • Mission:
  • The CLARE Foundation is a nonprofit organization providing effective and compassionate treatment, recovery, and prevention services for alcoholism and substance abuse to individuals, families, and the community.

  • Overview:
  • CLARE Foundation is a community organization and substance abuse treatment provider dedicated to helping those affected by alcohol and drug addiction. CLARE seeks to reduce barriers to treatment by making its services available to the most vulnerable populations, including women with children and the indigent. CLARE provides streamlined access to its integrated network of quality treatment and prevention programs, which are designed to support clients through every step of the healing process, and prevent at-risk youth from developing substance addictions.

Each year, over 30,000 people turn to CLARE seeking help for addiction treatment for themselves or a loved one. Of this number, 3,000 are placed into one of our 10 programs; all others are counseled and, if necessary, referred to partner organizations.

  • History:
  • In 1965, a group of concerned citizens came together to distribute food, blankets, and literature to homeless alcoholics living on Santa Monica and Venice beaches. In 1970, these citizens formed the CLARE Foundation in Santa Monica to help those affected by alcohol and drug addiction. For over 40 years, CLARE has fostered proven, results-oriented treatment methods administered by a well-trained staff of dedicated professionals. Today, CLARE has evolved into a multi-site organization with 10 programs that include residential and outpatient treatment and prevention services that range from initial detoxification to outreach to at-risk teens in local schools.
