General

  • Mission:
  • Mission: To provide caring, supportive adults to serve as role models, friends, motivators, and inspirations for students who are needful in any way for additional attention to help them grow into productive, responsible adults.

Our mission is infused with a duty to build and strengthen the character and competence of children and youth which will build leadership abilities, and hence, their ability to succeed during their school years and beyond. We realize that young people growing up many times have barriers to overcome that require intangible support, mainly having a mentor to help them to make wise decisions regarding all aspects of their lives...not just school-related decisions. Therefore, we place mentors in all 19 of the county's public schools, all grades, all ages.

  • History:
  • The Clarke County Mentor Program (CCMP) is a grass-roots, 501c3 organization that was developed to provide much-needed individual support for public school students who are struggling, both academically and personally. Founded in 1991, it has grown from 30 original mentors to over 900, and continues to grow to higher levels of participation each year. Every public school in the county participates and has a waiting list of students anticipating their match with a mentor. Our staff consists of the Exec. Dir. who works 35 hours/week and an assistant who works 20 hours/week (this position began in the 5th year). We have an all-volunteer Board of Directors.
