  • Mission:
  • Kids! Most of us have them, and as parents we always want the very best for them. Here at College Avenue, we love kids also. Short kids, tall kids, shy kids, busy kids, smart kids, and kids who just want to have fun; our passion is KIDS. We reach out to all kids, but especially those kids who live in poverty. During the last several years, the membership at College Avenue Baptist Church has begun a series of community outreach programs. We provide the facility and financial assistance for a local Soup Kitchen, pack and provide back packs filled with food for needy children identified in the school system, Terrific Tuesdays for activities during summer months, and most importantly, we are reaching out to the community with our Alpine Village.

  • Overview:
  • The Alpine Christmas Village serves as a community outreach program, and is a gift from our volunteers to Caldwell and surrounding counties. As this area continues to feel the effects of economic recession, it is more important than ever that we reach out to families with a special gift; one they will never forget. This project is not based on gender, ethnicity, or religious affiliation. All who wish to attend may do so without question or charge.

Currently, there are three major issues we seek to address.

    1. Many children in our area will have no Christmas.
    2. Many senior adults will experience total sadness during the holiday season.
    3. The Alpine Village can make a profound difference.

The Alpine Village truly is an experience which must be seen in order to be appreciated, and has provided so much happiness and joy, it has become highly anticipated as individuals ask and talk about it year round. It is truly a unique and unduplicated experience, one which will never be forgotten, and which has already become a family tradition for many of our guests. We believe the Village can make a difference in the lives of children, giving them hope, optimism and the knowledge they are loved.
Without the Alpine Christmas Village, many families in our area will be without the means to celebrate the holiday. The children of these families are our main target area, and we plan “School Days” especially designed for children in need. While many of our guests are financially challenged, we have open registration for all others in the community who wish to attend. It is simply a gift to the entire area. Those who have attended in the past contact us about the Village throughout the year hoping to get a guaranteed admission.

  • History:
  • Established in 2009, our goal for the Village was to serve 500 guests. Even though the Village is open to all who wish to attend, fire codes limit the number of guests per session. As a result, we use an online registration system. On December 1, 2013 our registration site opened to the community with 2400 slots available. In less than twelve hours, every session was completely filled. As a result, we opened additional sessions with six hundred reservations available. They were filled within thirteen minutes. Many others continued to call the church office, hoping to be able to register. In 2013, we served a total of 3625 guests, 1872 of which were children. In 2014 we hope to serve more than 2200 children by adding additional “School Days”, at least 200 Senior Adults, and we expect more than 4000 guests to attend.
