  • Mission:
  • The Bloomington Hospital Foundation is the Bloomington community’s original healthcare not-for-profit. We are passionate about leading philanthropic efforts to improve the quality of healthcare, and changing the lives of patients, in the Bloomington area. We support Indiana University (IU) Health Bloomington in their effort to be one of the best hospitals in the State of Indiana.

IU Health Bloomington is a 355 acute-bed hospital and regional health care provider that provides high-quality services to an eleven county region in south central Indiana. The mission of IU Health Bloomington is to improve the health of patients and the community through innovation and excellence in care, education, research, and service.

  • Overview:
  • IU Health Bloomington has a patient base of 409,000 in mostly rural to semi-rural south central Indiana. Bloomington, in Monroe County, is the county seat and the largest city in the hospital’s 11 county service area. Eighty percent of the counties in the hospital’s service qualify as at least one of the US Health and Human Services designated Health Professional Shortage Areas, either as Primary Care or Medically Underserved Area. In 2013, the hospital served just over 242,000 inpatient and outpatient individuals.

IU Health Bloomington’s core services are structured through specialized service lines. By doing so, a health care environment is created that fosters progressive leadership, innovation, and quality that will lead to preeminent patient care. The hospital’s main service lines include Cardiovascular Services, Cancer Services, Women and Children’s Services, Orthopedics and Sports Medicine, Neuroscience Services, Emergency (Trauma) and Urgent Care, Hospice, Diabetes Center, Wound Center, and Community Health Services.
