  • Mission:
  • Bluemont builds a shared sense of community by enhancing the rich local cultural diversity and economic vitality of our communities through developing public and private coalitions working together to establish on-going quality cultural and education programs.

  • Overview:
  • For 38 years, the Bluemont Concert Series has presented more than 5,000 high-quality events to a combined audience of more than 2 million in 68 communities in northwest and central Virginia. With steady growth, Bluemont has become a major public-private coalition of communities in the region.

We are a private, nonprofit corporation governed by a volunteer board of directors, managed by a small but efficient professional staff, and supported by a coalition of 20 local jurisdictions, 350 businesses and civic organizations, and more than 2,500 families, friends, and neighbors.

Throughout the year, Bluemont presents a wide variety of community events such as school concerts, workshops and assemblies; performances in hospitals and nursing homes; public concerts on the green; oldtime country dances, and special events around the region. These wonderful and affordable events have become part of the fabric of community life in communities throughout Virginia.

  • History:
  • Founded in 1976 as a non-profit cultural and educational organization, Bluemont has helped build the cultural spirit of more than 50 Virginia communities, inspiring and educating people of all ages throughout the year. Bluemont’s award-winning programs include Artists-in-Education in our schools, Healthcare Outreach performances for the elderly and infirm, and Special Community Events including our well-known summer concert series. For over a quarter of a century, Bluemont’s mission has been to partner with local volunteers and community leaders to provide affordable, high-quality cultural programs that build the cultural spirit in our communities. In 2013, Bluemont presented 107 programs in 8 communities to more than 29,000 Virginia residents and visitors. Since 1976, Bluemont has presented 9,484 cultural programs to 3.6 million Virginia families and friends.
