  • Mission:
  • Brandon's House opened in 1993 with the mission of providing haven and hope to teenagers and families in the community by providing free, Master's level counseling. Brandon's House has worked with more than 2400 families in the 14 years it has been open. The center has given away more than $1,300,000 worth of professional services.

  • History:
  • Brandon's House opened in 1993. The older home is owned by DePauw United Methodist Church. The director of Brandon's House, Susan Parr, was finishing a graduate degree in counseling and wrote a proposal for a grantwriting class that the old home would be remodeled and opened as a counseling center for teenagers and families. The mission would be to give away Master's level counseling to teenagers and their families. The pastor and the congregation supported this proposal unanimously. Brandon's House was incorporated in 1993 and became a 501C organization. The center was named in memory of Brandon Dukes, a 17 year old member of the church who died unexpectedly of a heart attack four months before it opened. Brandon's House has worked with families from nearly every county in southern Indiana as well as several families from communities from nearby counties in Kentucky. More than 2400 families have come for help at Brandon's House. More than $1,300,000 worth of professional counseling services have been given away. No client has ever been sent a bill. Brandon's House relies primarily upon community support for operating expenses and conducts several fundraising events each year. The center has also received small grants. Brandon's House has always been committed to making certain that administrative costs remain low so that financial support from the community is used primarily for direct services to families.
