  • Mission:
  • Our mission at Casa de los Angelitos strives to provide a safe, secure and compassionate, yet structured environment for our pregnant women, in order that they may be better prepared for the future with their new family. Our goal is to try and break the vicious cycle of their "Revolving Door of Pregnancy & Homelessness."
Casa encourages its residents to continue their education, establish goals and move forward in a positive, responsible way to ensure a full, happy and productive life for their new family.
Casa acknowledges the stresses of an unplanned pregnancy and commends its residents for choosing life for their child. Casa supports its residents throughout their pregnancy and provides limited services after residency is completed.

  • Overview:
  • The overview of what Casa is all about is in it's program called "New Hope, Breaking Free Program."We titled this Program "New Hope" because it gives these Pregnant Women Hope for their future with the help of a roof over their heads, food to eat, clothing as they need it during their pregnancy, and educational classes that will help them in the future. Some of the classes that we offer are: Domestic Violence Prevention and Education, Computer Class, Time Management, Psychological and Career Counseling, and cooking and nutrition class. These classes help each resident to gain the self confidence necessary to "break free" from the old ways of their past lifestyle and gain sufficient education and resources to raise and protect their new families.
To make sure that Casa is meeting the educational needs of our residents, we are continuously reviewing data compiled from such sources as interviews and assessments. This data states that Casa is meeting the educational needs of our residents and they are more equipped to deal with life as they leave the confines of Casa. The staff and board also host an annual Christmas Party and invites its past residents to join and share their lives with us. The facts reflect that many have gone on to be Dental and Medical Assistants, while others have received their degrees, either BA or BS from many different colleges or attained special certification from a vocational school. For this Christmas Party we ask them to bring their children and we have presents for every child that comes, plus Santa gives presents to each of them. We are very proud that many of them have bettered themselves with good professions and education to help raise their families. They hopefully will pass these incentives down to their children so that they will become productive and hard working citizens and make a better life for their children.

  • History:
  • Thanks to the vision, initiative courage and financial support of some dedicated individuals, their dream of a maternity home in the South Bay Area for homeless and abused women in crisis pregnancies became a reality in 1986. The support and involvement of many volunteers and donors was absolutely essential in the founding of Casa de los Angelitos. The financial support of a very special donor enabled the down payment on a 5 bedroom home in Harbor City that became "Casa de los Angelitos. Since the opening, 28 years ago Casa has assisted more than 800 pregnant and their unborn and newborn babies through their pregnancies. The involvement and financial support of concerned donors continues to be a major factor in the viability of Casa's ministry. Casa solicites contributions from individuals, Foundations, Corporations, and Churches to assist in the operating budget and the programs that are provided to the residents that enable each woman to become a productive citizen when she transitions from Casa 3 months after giving birth. Without the support of all of these donations and grants and continued support from the staff and Board members Casa would find it hard to provide the care, education and comfort to these distressed mothers and their babies. To compliment the financial success of donors, along with the help of the Board and staff, Casa's annual fund raising event is put on in the fall of each year to help with funding our New Hope Breaking Free Program," which consists of all of our educational classes, food, clothing, assistance from staff, office etc. This Program is the Heart and soul of what Casa de los Angelitos stands the eyes of the many pregnant and homeless residents that have lived here at Casa.
