  • Mission:
  • CP of Colorado’s mission is to create, support and encourage inclusive opportunities for all Coloradoans and their families through early education, employment, information and referral, advocacy, public education and collaborative strategies. Emphasis is placed on diversity, dignity, quality of life and the advancement of human potential. CP of Colorado places as its highest priority the eventual self-sufficiency and independence of all individuals and families accessing services.

  • History:
  • Cerebral Palsy (CP) of Colorado was founded in 1946 by a group of nine mothers, who believed their children born with severe disabilities should have options available to them other than placement in an institution. These courageous women and their families chose to support and raise their children at home, thus forging a new path of inclusion and quality of life for people with disabilities. Incorporated in 1952, CP of Colorado started one of the first schools in Colorado with educational and socialization opportunities for children with disabilities as its primary focus. Throughout the following decades, CP of Colorado expanded this path of inclusion by providing employment, family support, education and socialization related services to people of all ages and abilities with a variety of life challenges.
