  • Mission:
  • The Centro Binacional Para el Desarrollo Indígena Oaxaqueño (Binational Center for the Development of Oaxacan Indigenous Communities or CBDIO) is a non-profit organization with the mission to implement health and social welfare projects to improve the well-being of indigenous Oaxacan migrants. Our vision is to achieve the wellbeing, equality and self-determination of indigenous communities through various projects with prevention as the basis.

  • History:
  • Founded in 1993, Centro Binacional Para el Desarrollo Indígena Oaxaqueño is a registered 501(c)(3) organization that was born out of the vision of Frente Indígena Oaxaqueño Binacional (FIOB), a community-based organization and a coalition of indigenous organizations, communities, and individuals settled in Oaxaca, Baja California and the State of California. Launched as a non-profit by FIOB, it has its own entity with a distinct Board of Directors and Advisory Board across California and Mexico. CBDIO has worked with more than 6,000 Oaxacan indigenous immigrants in the Central Valley (Fresno, Madera, Tulare, Kern, Merced), Los Angeles and the Coast (Santa Barbara and Monterey) on community-based projects that promote well-being, family health, community integration, and collaboration. Its success is based on the trust the indigenous immigrant community places on CBDIO.
