  • Mission:
  • The mission of dba Project L.I.F.E. (Learning. Integration. Future. Employment) is to reintegrate low-income, disadvantaged, homeless and disabled adults into the workforce through personal and professional development, education, resources and support. Project L.I.F.E. will provide the foundation for these individuals to become contributing members of their communities.

  • Overview:
  • There is a vicious cycle perpetuated all across America. Those with limited education have limited access to opportunity which results in limited choices in life. Statistics show individuals with only a high school education earn significantly less than those with college degrees. What is too often left out of that statement is those with only a high school education are often living at or below the poverty line. Families living in poverty often become dependent on public assistance and struggle to break the cycle of poverty. Project L.I.F.E is determined to help break the cycle of poverty for families living in some of Inner-City Denver’s lowest income neighborhoods.

To begin this important work, Project L.I.F.E must create its internal structure as a working business-like nonprofit organization. Building the capacity of this nonprofit idea has, so far, taken nearly a year and $ 30,000 of capital from the founder, Denise Christopher. Denise, the board and several consultants and volunteers have created a strategic business plan, grants have been written and meetings held with potential partners - all of whom are excited to work with Project L.I.F.E. as it gets up and running.

The request of $10,000 is high for your foundation but please know that it will have a direct and significant impact on the work we will be doing in 2015. With this financial support, Project L.I.F.E. will be able to hire two employees, pay our fundraiser (currently a volunteer) and begin the operations of a Community Economic Development company - providing the training needed for low income, long-term unemployed, homeless and disabled adults in our community; building the partnerships with local businesses to move the trained individuals into the workforce and revitalize a seriously depressed part of our community with new hope.

  • History:
  • founder, Denise Christopher, is an entrepreneur of a woman- and minority-owned business in Denver since 1998. Her business, CKB Enterprises is located in the Clayton neighborhood of Denver, Colorado, one of Denver’s lowest income (38% below poverty level) and highest unemployment rate (13%) areas of Metro Denver. She has seen first- hand many of the obstacles faced by so many in this neighborhood and is determined to leverage her own business success into helping others find gainful employment and break the cycle of poverty. is a Community Economic Develepment (CED) or Community Development Corporation (CDC) with a dba - Project L.I.F.E that will provide life skills education, job training and placement through partnerships with local businesses. Project L.I.F.E. will also work to help program participants gain access to safe, decent, affordable housing when needed.

Project L.I.F.E.’s participants will consist of individuals identified as seeking employment through the Denver Mile High City Workforce Center, TANF recipients, the Veterans Administration and other local area programs. By providing life and job skills training coupled with employment resources and business partnerships, our hope is that Project L.I.F.E.’s participants will be able to obtain employment that pays a livable wage which will ultimately enable them to break the cycle of poverty.

This history is currently a short-story with only one year of preliminary work that is building on a big idea. We hope you will recognize the merit of this big idea and help us build it - become a part of our story! Thank you in advance for your consideration of our proposal for capacity building for this start-up. Should you decide in our favor and become a supporter, please know we will be excellent stewards of every dollar you provide to us and dynamically impact the lives of those in great need.
