  • Mission:
  • City Help’s mission is to enrich the lives of the homeless, low-income and underserved individuals, at-risk youth and families of the inner city by providing food, health care and after-school activities.

  • History:
  • City Help, located at the former Queen of Angels Hospital in the Rampart District of Los Angeles, was founded in 1997. City Help was created to address the growing healthcare needs and disappearing health care availability for the city’s homeless, low-income, and uninsured; to meet the nutritional needs of the city’s food insecure population; to provide a safe and supportive place for youth; and to help the city’s youth prepare to enter the workforce. Since its beginning, City Help has provided free health care to 18,000 patients, has served over 1 million meals, and has had over 800 children participate in its youth center programs.

Through innovative mobile programs City Help is able to provide critical services to multiple distressed communities. City Help’s programs include:

    • A Mobile Medical Clinic that provides free comprehensive medical care and prescriptions to the uninsured.

    • A Mobile Food Truck program that delivers bagged groceries of USDA and rescued foods to homeless, low-income and food insecure families at 29 sites throughout the inner city of Los Angeles. Serving 40,000 people per month, recipients include single mothers, families living below the poverty level, disabled individuals, the unemployed and the elderly.

    • A community youth center provides after-school activities, sports leagues and employment opportunities.
