  • Mission:
  • The mission of the ARSSC Families Association is to work in partnership with the Acadiana Institute for Community Growth (AICG) and the Acadiana Region Supports and Services Center (ARSSC) to support individuals with developmental disabilities by developing and facilitating meaningful programs and activities that increase community capacity and connections.

  • History:
  • The ARSSC Families Association was founded in 1971 to support the work of the Acadiana Region Supports and Services Center (ARSSC). ARSSC serves citizens with developmental disabilities in the Acadiana region of Louisiana by offering residential, day services, and other community services. The Families Association has traditionally enhanced these services through fund raisers and donations applied to enhanced programs and equipment offered by ARSSC. The present project moves the organization beyond its traditional mission to help integrate citizens with developmental disabilities in all aspects of community life, thereby strengthening community social capital in Southwest Louisiana. The Families Association is championing the establishment of the Acadiana Institute for Community Growth which will provide programs and services for clients in the Acadiana region.
