  • Mission:
  • It is the mission of the Boys & Girls Club of Elgin to enable all young people, especially those who need us most to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens.

  • Overview:
  • The Boys & Girls Club of Elgin (Club) relies on four core beliefs to fulfill its mission: (a) provide a safe place for children to learn and grow; (b) develop youth relationship building skills with caring adult professionals; (c) deliver life-enhancing programming; (d) deliver character development programs that create hope and opportunity within all the lives they touch. The Club actively seeks to enrich the lives of all youth, especially those in low-income and at-risk neighborhoods. The Club inspires great futures using a Formula for Impact that includes high-yield outcomes in three priority areas: academic success; good character & citizenship; and healthy lifestyles. Programs offered promote life skills; civic engagement; academic and school engagement; target dropout prevention and healthy living for youth ages 6-18. Programs and services develop the qualities and skills necessary for youth to become responsible citizens, leaders and an asset to the City of Elgin

  • History:
  • The Club began servicing youth in Elgin in 1993 through a collaboration with the local Police Department, Boys & Girls Clubs of America, various Elgin stakeholders and community residents concerned with the escalating drug, alcohol, gang and juvenile delinquency issues plaguing the City of Elgin. The Club opened its doors to 100 youth in 1993 and now serves more than 2,000 members and an additional 1,000 youth through outreach efforts annually in seven Elgin locations after school.
