General

  • Mission:
  • The mission of Community Action Partnership of Mid-Nebraska is “To provide essential programs that help individuals, families, and communities reach their fullest potential through advocacy and partnerships. Our dedicated staff provides access to opportunities in education, health, housing, nutrition, and transportation. These services empower people to make a positive difference in their lives and communities.”

  • Overview:
  • Community Action Partnership of Mid-Nebraska (Mid) serves 139 communities located within 27 counties in south central Nebraska and two counties located within Kansas.

Mid offers a diverse number of program services to benefit those in need. Mid Programs include: Affordable Housing, Community Services, Child Abuse Prevention, Commodities and Food Bank, Head Start, Health Services, Senior Centers, Transportation, Weatherization, Women Infants, and Children (WIC) Program, and Volunteer Services. New initiatives in the past five years include Financial Peace training, Individual Development Accounts, implementing a Community Health Worker component for our Health Services, Educational Scholarships, Job Training, and Affordable Care Act Navigators.

Mid operates the North Platte Senior Center, whose mission is to provide freedom, dignity and independence for older Lincoln County residents. The center provides a congregate and home delivered meal program, as well as providing education and social activities to area seniors.

The North Platte Senior Center has been serving North Platte over 30 years. The Center is a non-profit organization and is responsible for providing a place for referral services, information, recreation, and meals for persons 60 years of age and older. The Senior Center is sponsored by the West Central Area Agency on Aging and United Way, with funds from fundraising and personal donations.

The North Platte Senior Center Home Delivery Meal Program averages serving 120 meals per day to seniors living in the North Platte area. We are the only entity in the North Platte area that provides home delivered meals to the senior population. The Home-Delivered Meal Program is based on need; clients must have a doctor's order to receive meals. Our program allows people to stay in their homes longer, and receive a well balanced nutritious meal. Our goal is to make sure seniors are receiving the proper nutrition and continue to evaluate and help them get healthy enough to start coming to the senior center to eat.

The benefits go beyond providing meals; research has shown that home delivered meals programs help keep seniors independent and out of nursing homes. The volunteers check on their well-being and sometimes, are the only face to face interaction a senior may have during the day.

  • History:
  • Mid was established in 1965 as part of President Lyndon B. Johnson’s “War on Poverty.” The main purpose of our agency is to provide diverse services and programs that will help people and change lives. Throughout our nearly 50 years of operation, the agency has established a wide variety of solid programs that benefit our communities.
