General

  • Mission:
  • Blanco Non-Profit Coalition exists to provide the means to raise funds for local non-profits who serve the community in which we live. These non-profits provide community support services for seniors including healthcare programs, fitness and a place to socialize; literacy and technological support for all community members; environmental preservation and education; and supports the preservation of a historical community structure. These entities are the Gem of the Hills Senior Community Center, the Blanco Library, the Friends of Blanco State Park and the Preservation Society for the Old Blanco County Courthouse.

  • Overview:
  • The Blanco Non-Profit Coalition will be hosting the 4th annual Wild Woman Weekend event April 8-10, 2016, which will draw women from around the state and beyond to gather together and have fun while supporting our local non-profits and the businesses in our small town at the same time. We host various venues that appeal to a wide variety of interests such as a 5K fun run, kayaking, birding, fly fishing, several luncheons and dinners, glass fusing workshops, silent auction, casino night, wine and chocolate pairing, silk scarf painting, etc. We are hoping to make this the best event yet to help the non-profits that we support replenish their resources especially after they were all called upon when our community was devastated by the Memorial Day floods of 2015. All of the non-profits and the community as a whole worked to rescue stranded or missing community members, house and feed community members and the search and rescue workers.

  • History:
  • The Blanco Non-Profit Coalition hosted it's first Wild Woman Weekend event in 2013. We drew women from all across Texas and other states to our small town to gather with their family, friends, old school pals, etc and have fun while supporting the businesses in the community and the local non-profits that are supported by BNPC. We have four main non-profits that we support - the Gem of the Hills Senior Community Center, the Friends of Blanco State Park, the Blanco Library and the Preservation Society for the Old Blanco County Courthouse. We also choose a fifth local non-profit through an application process which was the Good Samaritan Center for our 2015 event.
Each year, the attendance, and therefore, the profits have grown. Our Senior Center has been able to replace their air conditioners and will be replacing a well-worn floor next, the Library has made improvements to their conference room and building, the Friends of the State Park created a NatureScape and play area for children and the Courthouse used the funds to replace the mortar on the historic structure. All entities have improvement projects that rely on public funds.
