  • Mission:
  • The Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation (CCF) is the only organization in North America dedicated to finding a cure and improving the quality of life for those affected by bile duct cancer. Over 5,000 people are diagnosed with this hard-to-diagnose, difficult-to-treat, fatal type of cancer in the United States each year, and incidence is sharply increasing.

  • Overview:
  • Our organization provides free educational publications upon request, hosts a website which receives over 250,000 hits annually, facilitates an internet discussion forum with over 91,000 posts to date, provides phone support, coordinates a two-day annual conference for medical professionals and researchers, and offers a one day conference for patients and caregivers. We also fund research in the form of fellowship awards, partnerships with third party organizations, and our own recently established International Cholangiocarcinoma Patient Registry (ICPR).

  • History:
  • CCF was originally established nine years ago by Stacie Lindsey, President and Founder, who stated, “In October of 2005 my family gathered together at our brother’s request. Mark and his wife, Marianne, expecting their fourth child a few weeks later, told us that he had been diagnosed with inoperable, incurable cancer. Stunned silence was immediately followed by confused tears. We worked long hours trying to provide hope for Mark, his family, and ourselves. In the end, my family did not receive what it had hoped and worked for…as heart-wrenching as this journey was for us, we were determined that no one else should have to invest the time and effort we did to gather information and surround themselves with an empathetic community. Somehow, we would find a way to endow others with hope and support. Out of this desire came The Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation.”
