General

  • Mission:
  • To enable all youth to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens.

  • Overview:
  • The Boys & Girls Club of Evanston provides hope and opportunity to at-risk teenagers by providing quality programs. The Club focuses on academic success, good character, and healthy lifestyles. Club members have access to caring adult mentors who help youth navigate successfully through difficult teen years. Club members develop a plan for the future, including career and education. Club members participate in a wide-variety of programs including but not limited to, art education, cooking, boxing, rugby, guitars, science, robotics, character education, career exploration, gardening, tennis, piano, STEM, leadership, service, and so much more.

The Club is open when teens need us most, during critical non-school hours. The Club provides transportation and meals/snacks at no additional charge to members. The Boys & Girls Club of Evanston believes that all youth should have the opportunity to participate in our programs; therefore, membership dues are kept low and scholarships are offered so ALL can attend.

  • History:
  • The Boys & Girls Club of Evanston opened January 2013. The community has had a great need for programs to target youth due to increased juvenile delinquency, increased alcohol and tobacco consumption, and decreased school performance. The YOU! group previously provided programs for at-risk youth; however, they were unable to secure funding and programming to continue after over 5 years of operating. The City of Evanston and other key stake holders determined that after the YOU! went away, there was a huge gap in services that needed to be filled, thus creating the Boys & Girls Club of Evanston. Since its' opening, the Club has seen great success in enrolling members and providing impactful programs.
