  • The Family Crisis Center’s mission is to be the expert resource and service provider in eliminating domestic and sexual violence in Bastrop, Colorado, Fayette and Lee Counties. The Family Crisis Center strives to provide quality, comprehensive programs to assure victim safety and offender accountability with the ultimate goal of helping families create and maintain violence-free lives. The Family Crisis Center envisions a safe community built on equality without the existence of violence.

  • History:
  • The Bastrop County Women’s Shelter, dba the Family Crisis Center started in 1981 from a coalition of rural Texas women with a shared vision of offering hope, support, and assistance to women victimized by domestic violence. Since becoming an incorporated nonprofit in 1983, the Family Crisis Center has evolved into a community leader in the rural Central Texas counties of Bastrop, Colorado, Fayette, and Lee; an area which covers 3,531 square miles between Austin and Houston with a combined population of 131,807 residents in mostly small, isolated communities.
