  • Mission:
  • The mission of the Brotherhood Task Force of Northwest Louisiana, Inc. is to develop and implement effective, culturally relevant disease prevention service, education, advocacy, Harm Reduction, HIV counseling and testing to people of color and the high-risk underserved populations in Northwest Louisiana.

  • History:
  • In 2006 the Brotherhood Task Force hosted the Caravan to End AIDS, which included lodging and provision for food for 16 HIV infected/affected individuals leaving San Diego California in route to Washington DC. Our agency also provided counseling and testing at eight of the Shreveport Housing Authority Facilities providing for the testing of senior citizens and youth and African Americans. The testing age ranged was from 15 years old to 69. We provided counseling and testing at Operation Stand down 2004 through 2007; we have tested 300 homeless individuals and indentified four positives homeless individuals between 2004-2006. In 2007, we tested 45 with one positive being indentified. Other testing sites includes the Hope House (Homeless Day Shelter), Southern University, Grambling State University, David Wade Correctional facility and a recent presentation at Goodwill youth program, the Buckhalter Treatment Facility and the McAdoo Hotel (Transitional Housing). We are also currently testing at Central Station (Gay Club) in Shreveport for which we have tested 25 with two positives indentified in 2007. We have also tested for National Black HIV Awareness and provided presentations at Grambling and Southern University for 2002- 2007, we also provided testing for the Balm of Gilead at our Hope Street Office 2007. There was also a National Black HIV Arts contest at the David Wade Correctional Facility 2006 and a $100.00 dollar World AIDS contest in Grambling at one of the local High Schools 2006. For national testing day in 2007 we provided a Caravan and did a presentation in Alexandria and provided testing in Baton Rouge for Aspirations, Inc..
