  • Mission:
  • Babson College educates men and women to be entrepreneurial leaders in a rapidly changing world. We prepare them to identify opportunities and initiate actions that result in genuine accomplishment; we encourage them to create great economic and social value…everywhere.

Our innovative curricula challenge students to think creatively and across disciplinary boundaries. We cultivate the willingness to take and manage risk, the ability to energize others toward a goal, and the courage to act responsibly.

Our students appreciate that leadership requires technical knowledge as well as a sophisticated understanding of societies, cultures, institutions, and the self. They welcome the challenge of learning continuously and taking responsibility for their careers. Our students will be key contributors in the world’s established enterprises as well as emerging ventures.

At Babson, we collaborate across disciplines and functions to create knowledge and apply integrative solutions to complex problems. We reach across institutional and geographic boundaries to forge relationships with individuals and organizations who share our commitment to excellence and innovation.

  • History:
  • Babson College, located 14 miles west of Boston in Wellesley, Massachusetts, USA, is an independent school of management that takes an innovative approach to preparing undergraduates, graduate students, and working professionals for the challenges in a global business environment. Babson’s dynamic curriculum focuses on developing skills that transcend business so that students gain multidimensional abilities, and can make important contributions to business and society.

Babson offers a Bachelor of Science degree, a Master of Business Administration degree, custom degree programs, and executive education programs worldwide. The College is internationally recognized for its focus on entrepreneurial leadership in a changing global environment. The Undergraduate School and the F.W. Olin Graduate School of Business at Babson are accredited by the AACSB International—The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business, the New England Association of Schools and Colleges, and the European Quality Improvement System (EQUIS), the leading international system of quality assessment, improvement, and accreditation of higher education institutions in management and business administration. Babson is one of just three institutions in the United States to receive the EQUIS accreditation.

Babson has received many awards and recognition for its innovative curriculum, including:

•U.S. News & World Report ranked Babson’s MBA program #1 in entrepreneurship for 16 consecutive years and the undergraduate program for 12 years.
•Both U.S. News & World Report and BusinessWeek rank Babson’s undergraduate business program as one of the top 25 in the country.
•Babson Executive Education has been ranked among the top executive education schools worldwide by both Financial Times and BusinessWeek.
•Babson’s groundbreaking undergraduate curriculum has garnered a leadership award from The Pew Charitable Trusts for taking “bold steps to reshape undergraduate programs.”
•Babson’s flagship undergraduate course, Foundations of Management and Entrepreneurship, was recently recognized by the United States Association for Small Business and Entrepreneurship as having the most innovative entrepreneurship education course in the country.
•The College received the Theodore M. Hesburgh Award for its “Reinvention of Undergraduate Business Education.”

The undergraduate curriculum integrates core competencies, key business disciplines, and the liberal arts into foundation, intermediate, and advanced-level courses. The competencies are rhetoric; numeracy; ethics and social responsibility; international and multicultural perspectives; and leadership, teamwork, and creativity. Based on feedback from leading corporate executives, the curriculum is structured around these competencies to ensure that students develop varied skills and are better able to adapt to an ever-changing business environment. All first-year students participate in the Foundations of Management and Entrepreneurship course, a yearlong immersion into the world of business where student teams create their own for-profit ventures. Babson teaches the core business disciplines in its Intermediate Program through integrated courses to enable students to see the relationship between these disciplines. As part of the Advanced Program, students design their own learning plans, which can consist of upper-level elective courses in liberal arts and management, field-based experiences, and co-curricular activities.

Babson College is also known for its international programs and partnerships with other schools (University of University of Stellenbosch in South Africa; Tec de Monterrey in Mexico; Tsinghua University, etc.) around the world. The recently launched Global Entrepreneurship Program is a unique program offered by three of the world’s most prestigious l institutions: EM-Lyon Business School (Europe), Babson College’s F.W. Olin Graduate School of Business, and Zhejiang University’s School of Management (China), resulting in a M.S. in Management degree in Global Entrepreneurship.
